What to expect at CIM CONNECT 2025
CIM Connect 2025 offers three days of immersive learning and knowledge sharing, enhanced by professional development courses preceding the convention. Our extensive trade show will feature companies presenting the latest products and services, creating a unique opportunity for networking and discovery.
We chose the theme "Minerals, Innovation, and the Energy Transition" for CIM Connect 2025 to reflect the industry's evolving focus from the extraction process ("mining") to the economic value of the product ("minerals"). This shift emphasizes the importance of circularity, which goes beyond traditional mining by considering the recovery of materials that have already been extracted, such as tailings and other secondary sources. While achieving full circularity remains a long-term goal, this theme encourages forward-thinking and innovative approaches to sourcing minerals. It underscores the need to adapt to changing economic and environmental landscapes, promoting sustainable practices and technological advancements that will shape the future of the industry.

History - 125 Years Of Excellence.
CIM boasts a history that extends back just 31 years after the founding of Canada. Originating from the collaborative efforts of mining industry professionals, CIM emerged as a platform advocating for safety laws, workers' protection, and the exchange of ideas. Guided by a dedicated group of members, CIM rapidly expanded its influence, drawing in new members from across Canada.
Officially incorporated in 1898 as the Canadian Mining Institute, the organization underwent a transformative journey. In 1920, it evolved into the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and later in 1990, it further developed into the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum.
Today, we proudly stand as Canada's premier professional association for minerals-related industries. With technical Societies and local Branches extending across Canada and overseas, CIM remains at the forefront, leading and serving the industry with distinction.
