Petrina Torgerson | Biography

Petrina Torgerson has been working at Newmont for over eight years in a variety of roles in sustainability and community and Indigenous relations. From supporting operations across North America to working in the field on an exploration project in northwestern BC, Petrina is passionate about advancing equity in the mining industry. Prior to her work in mining, she worked for the United States Agency for International Development in Mexico on a project supporting a reform of the country’s justice system to improve respect for human rights, transparency, and efficiency. Petrina has a master’s degree in public policy and global affairs from the University of British Columbia and speaks fluent Spanish. She lives in Vancouver with her partner and her 17-month-old daughter.
